Grimsby Girl

Friday, May 19th, 2017

Coming soon – a new film about Grimsby with some proper Northern humour!

Last year we were delighted to support the production of Grimsby Girl, a dark, humorous and feel good short film where the bad guys get their comeuppance and the good girls kick ass!

Written and produced by local lass, Niya Hill, it offers a brilliantly different perspective on our home town, fighting all the negative perceptions and flying in the face of all those Grimsby clichés.

The film is now in post-production and the Grimsby Girl team are hoping to raise enough money through a final crowdfunding effort to send it on a tour of festivals.  You can read more about it on the Grimsby Girl website.

We can’t wait for the opening night!

It’s a family affair!

The Romance of the Docks – Part 2

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017

In 1968, I joined Marine Diesel Services as ‘office manager.’ But I hated being cooped up in my office and would jump at any and every opportunity to flee my ‘cell’. So, when the collective tummies of the three of us employed there (myself, Margaret Tuplin and Kathy Lees) started to rumble, I would volunteer to make the short walk to the famous Jubilee Café, which thankfully still exists. 17.01.20 Sunset3.1 (more…)
