In early August we were delighted to find out that our BigFish Brand Traditional Smoked Salmon had been awarded star in this year’s Great Taste Awards. A brilliant accolade given that fewer than 25% of entries to the Great Taste Awards achieve the one-star rating – which categorises the product as 'simply delicious.'
When we first launched Smoked Salmon last year it was the first chilled, smoked product for our BigFish Brand range. We make it to our own recipe here in Grimsby, curing, oak smoking and hand slicing our salmon in the traditional way. It is fantastic for canapés, in sandwiches or served up with eggs for breakfast. And of course, for creative chefs, smoked salmon is also a fantastic ingredient for cooked recipes, such as with pasta or in risotto.
More good news this month when we also won national distribution in Ocado for BigFish Brand Salmon Bites and Goujons. This exciting idea has taken salmon into the fast-growing territory of breaded fish, sales of which are currently well ahead of the total seafood market.*
