JCS Fish is owned and run by Andrew and Louise Coulbeck, both of whom have deep roots in the fish industry. Louise comes from a trawling family whilst Andrew began his working life in the family business, Richard Coulbeck Ltd (RC Limited), which specialised in buying and selling dogfish. RC Limited then acquired Jack Smith Limited, a long-established Grimsby firm renowned for sourcing shellfish and wild salmon.
For many years, Andrew worked closely with Jack Carlisle Smith himself, who passed on his fifty years of knowledge and his fish handling skills to Andrew before he retired.
With Jack Smith's help and training, Andrew Coulbeck had become one of Grimsby’s most well-known experts in salmon. He saw the potential of making the fish more accessible by moving into farmed fish, becoming one of the first seafood companies to do so. In fact, such was Jack Smith's influence on Andrew's career that when he came to set up his own company, he named it in honour of his early mentor.
And so JCS Fish was born in 2000. We still specialise in salmon and we now service a large cross-section of the food industry - both foodservice and retail - with our salmon expertise, products and ideas. We're still a family business and were delighted when Andrew and Louise's son, Jack, joined the company in 2017.
