A New Chapter for JCS Fish: Welcome to Riby Street

After more than two decades at Murray Street, JCS Fish has officially moved into our new home at Riby Street, Grimsby – marking an exciting new chapter for our independent family business. Founded in September 2000, JCS Fish has spent the last 25 years building its reputation as The Salmon Specialist, processing and supplying salmon to customers across the UK and beyond.

Murray Street was our home for 21 of those years and saw the business grow considerably. Eventually, though, we simply outgrew it. To give JCS the space, capacity, and capability needed for the next stage of our journey, it was time for a bigger home.

Investing in our future

Our move to Riby Street represents an investment of approximately £1.5 million in the future of JCS Fish.

At around 27,000 sq ft, our new facility is more than twice the size of our previous site. That additional space has allowed us to rethink how we operate and, importantly, gives us room to grow.

One of the biggest changes is the space to bring our second processing line fully into operation, significantly increasing our fresh salmon processing capacity and giving us greater flexibility to accommodate larger customer programmes. We have also strengthened our frozen capability with the addition of a Torry freezer, producing excellent Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) results and opening up further opportunities across our frozen salmon range.

For our customers, that means more capacity, greater flexibility, and an even stronger ability to grow alongside them – whether supplying established product lines or developing something around a particular requirement.

A new factory – and an AA grade

Moving a working food manufacturing business is no small undertaking. Moving it while maintaining the standards expected of a modern salmon processor presented an even bigger challenge. We are therefore particularly proud that our new Riby Street facility achieved an AA grade against the BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety version 9. Alongside our other certifications and responsible sourcing programmes, this provides our customers with continued confidence in the standards behind the products we process and supply.

Reaching this point has taken a considerable effort from people across the business. From planning and construction through to moving equipment, establishing production, and preparing for audits, our team has worked incredibly hard to get Riby Street up and running - so thank you to everyone in our business for their part and effort in the move!

Still independent. Still family. Still salmon.

A great deal has changed since JCS Fish was founded in September 2000, but some of the most important things haven't.

We remain an independent, family-run Grimsby business, specialising in salmon and working closely with our customers to provide products that meet their individual requirements. Riby Street gives us the space and infrastructure to take that approach much further.

It has been a particularly memorable year for the family behind JCS Fish too, with Jack and Rosie welcoming their second son in March - another milestone in a year that has been full of change and new beginnings.

Twenty-five years after our story began, we're looking forward to the next chapter – and to seeing where Riby Street takes us.
